Finally, he's made up his mind.

Obama gets Edwards' long-sought endorsement
Obama signs on to former Democratic rival's poverty initiative

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Democrat John Edwards endorsed former rival Barack Obama on Wednesday, a move designed to help solidify support for the party's likely presidential nominee even as Hillary Rodham Clinton refuses to give up her long-shot candidacy.

Edwards made a surprise appearance with Obama in Grand Rapids, Mich., as the Illinois senator campaigns in a critical general... [Read More]

UK taking a HUGE step backward regarding marijuana?
May 07, 2008 - 6:03 PM - by Steve in Ground Zero
When will this stupid debate over weed end? Can't people figure out that marijuana needs to be legalized and regulated??? I guess not...

Cannabis laws to be strengthened
Cannabis is to be reclassified as a class B drug, Jacqui Smith has said.
The home secretary said she wanted to reverse Tony Blair's 2004 downgrading of the drug because of "uncertainty" over its impact on mental health.

The move from class C means the maximum prison sentence for possessing cannabis rises from two years to five... [Read More]

Intelligentpeople.com: Internet dating meets eugenics, LoL.
May 05, 2008 - 12:15 PM - by Stick in Ground Zero
Intelligentpeople.com is a different kind of dating site.

Sure you can swap pics, flirt, and eventually meet your e-SO IRL for some qualty guilty-desperate-really-rather-lonely sex, but there's something else here.

If you met your new lady friend on intelligentpeople.com you can rest assured that she's either intelligent enough to pass the required IQ test or savy enough to get someone smart to do it for her.

That's right; intelligentpeople.com requires you to take an IQ test and pass in order to register.

If you're feeling particularly narcissistic, stop on by and see if you're smart enough for the new maste- er, for the members of... [Read More]

Barack Obama needs to dump the Reverend Jeremiah Wright
Apr 28, 2008 - 4:39 PM - by Olorin in Ground Zero

It is commendable that Senator Obama stood by his pastor and friend after the “god dam America” controversy. But after Wright’s speech this morning to the National Press Club it is clear that he is dragging down Obama’s run for the presidency. Even Chris Mathews, who seems to lean to Obama, has called on Obama to disown his former pastor.

I really do not understand what Wright is doing. I mean, your friend is running for president…he will probably be the Democratic nominee…and has a good chance to be the next president and you go out there and start messing his shit up. Obama stood by him and... [Read More]

"Huge advance" in gene therapy to cure blindness

Maze walk marks 'huge advance' in gene therapy for blindness

An 18-year-old man with a rare form of blindness has amazed doctors by navigating a maze after receiving gene therapy to improve his eyesight. Steven Howarth, from Bolton, was among three volunteers with childhood blindness to take part in the world's first clinical trial of the treatment, led by doctors in London.

Each of the patients inherited a condition called Leber's congenital amaurosis, which affects one in 80,000 people in Britain. The condition is caused by a faulty gene which gradually destroys the retina, leaving most patients completely blind by their late 20s.

Doctors said the technique represented a "huge advance" and gave hope... [Read More]

Well, the tide of incest sweeping the globe has offered another mind-blowing case that appears to transcend all known limits of such depravity, making headlines the world over.
Austrian 'locked up daughter for 24 years and fathered seven children with her'

By Tony Paterson in Berlin
Monday, 28 April 2008

Austrians were in a state of shock last night after the arrest of a 73-year-old man suspected of sexually abusing his daughter and fathering her seven children. He allegedly abducted her at the age of 11 and held her prisoner in a basement dungeon for 24 years.

LoL, John Ashcroft goes to college
Apr 25, 2008 - 6:35 PM - by Stick in
Recently, John Ashcroft, former Attorney General of the United States, attended an open forum at Knox- hippy breeding ground- College.

Ooops.

One of the students there has an excellent blog post up covering the whole event.

There is no discourse here- they're hippy liberal scum and he's neocon oligarchical swine, when the two combine there can be only hearty yucks and awkward silences and also, perhaps, the consumption of fine cheese.

He tries and fails so hard at making a joke of things it hurts. I don't think the man once answered a question clearly.

Dark Matter found?
Apr 24, 2008 - 12:02 AM - by bornsceptic in Geekdom
Italian researchers claim they are first to have found dark matter

Scientists hunting an invisible form of matter that pervades the universe and holds galaxies together claim to have found it underneath a mountain in Italy.

The discovery, at a laboratory built deep into the Gran Sasso mountain in Abruzzo, could end a 70-year race to find the elusive "dark matter" that physicists believe accounts for 90% of the mass of the universe. Its existence was first postulated in 1933 by a Swiss astronomer who observed that distant galaxies must be held together by a huge gravitational pull caused by some apparently invisible form of matter. It gained the name "dark matter" because it does not shine or reflect light.

Hillary Clinton Wins Pennsylvania Primary.
Apr 22, 2008 - 8:46 PM - by Olorin in Ground Zero
The story is still unfolding but all major news networks have called the state of Pennsylvania for Hillary Clinton. The question now is by how much did she win. CNN is reporting that she is ahead by around six points but Karl Rove (my dark master) looked at the numbers and indicated that she could have a much larger margin of victory. This victory now gives her momentum going into North Carolina and Indiana but does it matter?
