    This reminds me of the fish at the bottom of the sea who breathes the sulphur that oozes from cracks in the sea floor.

    The tree of life model was already modified to a ring of life model. Shortly after bacteria and archaea were separated into different domains

    It's pretty clear to me that there is still a helluva lot out there that can change our models and taxonomy of 'life'.

    The interesting thing is that it doesn't fit into the model. Protozoa fossils have been found but typically its only the ones that produce shells or skeletons. In any case you wouldn't know whether it was this particular protozoa because DNA doesn't fossilise.
