white wine lacks the richness of reds.

reds compliment all the best meats, whites compliment fish and chicken.

my last meal will not be fish or chicken.

Because Lily flips the fuck out after a thimbleful of lite beer and she assumes that everybody else reacts to alcohol the same way.

I don't buy anything over $20...cuz...wtf...you never know what you'll get. My wife bought an "expensive" bottle once, and it was fucking horrible.

So, I FINALLY found a wine which is both reasonably price and so effing good I had to buy a case immediately.
One of my friends at university is the son of the former chief wine buyer of a major upmarket UK supermarket. His dad says that whatever wine you like drinking is what you should drink. You shouldn't drink or buy a wine just because you're told its the done thing, if you like white with red meat drink it, if you like red with fish drink it.

I think this is a really liberating mantra for buying wine too many people are obsessed with 'doing the right thing'. Rather you should do what you like, if there's a 5 wine at tesco that you really enjoy then buy and drink that wine and don't have an inferiority complex.

Once you get into the 15-20+ price range for wine most people are just making status statments rather than making a genuine choice based on palet.
