If you hold your hand so that it blocks the view of the sole then they don't look half bad.

well it depends on the chinos or suspenders in question, doesn't it.

i just got some chinos from blue in green that are really nice. i don't think i would feel the same about some old navy ones, dockers, or wallmart's "faded glory" crap.

as for sandals? they almost always look terrible. yes i know they are comfortable, but they look terrible and no one wants to see your feet unless you're a foot model, and even then most people don't want to see your feet.

at the beach, wear flip flops. those are ok in that situation.

I like the Doc Marten fisherman sandals and will buy some when they get back to making them at Solovair in the UK as they are bringing production back from China.

It's not so much a matter of comfort as being temperature appropriate. Wearing socks and shoes in 95 degree weather like we had here yesterday makes you look and eventually smell like an ass.

I have one foot without any shoes with a ring on one toe by a poolside...

I can't seem to remember my photobucket password though...

i had no problem wearing these:

with short socks (the kind that don't go past the top of the shoe) for the past 2 days here in nyc with 100 degree weather and had no issues. however, i have good hygiene and change my socks daily.

also LMAO at "temperature appropriate" comment from a guy who dresses in leather, chain mail, and gladiator sandals.

I dunno, I think it's acceptable to aim lower than artisanal Japanese pants sometimes.
