Default PF Flyers Center versus Converse Chuck Taylor

Comfort: This isn't even a contest. While apparently not a single person working at Converse has thought to add arch support after 80 years, the PF Flyers Center was one of the early pioneers of arch support and the system (PFFlyers ACTION WEDGE) is still awesome and only gets better as you wear the shoes down into thick canvas socks.

Durability: About four years ago they would have basically been tied, but after Nike bought the Converse name a few years ago corners were cut and the biggest one was switching from double ply to single ply canvas on the entire mainline (some of the special seasonal and designer Chucks still use double ply). New Chucks don't last as long and don't wear in quite as well as old Chucks or any Center with double ply canvas. Center wins it again.

    Spoiler:
    FIX THE SCROLLBARS PHROST

Detailing: This is a real toss up. I prefer the Center's silhouette but I find the toecap on Chuck's sleeker. I also think PFF needs to tone down the racing stripe on the back on certain colorways. I can't really pick a winner here but I prefer the PFF.

Converse hates people with wide feet

whats up with those converses with no laces that are glued together or w/e?

I always had the sneaking suspicion that those were really expensive.

I like Vans and Mossimo shoes for my wide arse feet.

I do have to say I like the aesthetics of PF Flyers though.

Yeah, nothing beats Vans for people with wide feet.

They also tend to be helluva comfortable.

Because you're used to heavy arch support, as are most people who wear shoes.

Humans have a set of built in reflexes which make the ankles more stable as weight shifts across the bottom of the foot. Soft, comfortable shoes retard these reflexes and both rob you of stability/agility and make you more prone to injuries.

Going barefoot is the best way to get those reflexes to kick back in. Second best are wearing hard-soled shoes like Chucks. I wear Chucks when I lift because my YMCA won't let me go barefoot.

This is why skaters wear Chucks, and you should, too.

The most comfortable shoes I've ever had have had leather insoles that start flat but, with wear, mold to the shape of your feet. For what it's worth.
