    Default APC A/W preview

Looks a lot more interesting than their S/S thankfully. The duffel coats are dope, I just hope duffels don't explode this year like pea coats did last year. I'm not normally one to avoid things I really like because they're popular but seeing literally every dude a every party in a cheap ass shitty looking pea coat last year kind of soured them for me.

Aww, the model with brown hair looks like he's all dressed up for his first day of middle school.

It's very, uh, conservative. Like, british children. I've seen school uniforms identical to middle-right.

APC launched 20 years ago but was running the same basic line of jeans fits for the first 17 or so before finally updating the line a few years back. The brand is all about sober, classic styling, you can head over to the Julius thread if you're feeling a little more avant garde or you really really love Egypt.

I wouldn't deck myself head to toe in APC cause it would be pretty boring but you could build a superb wardrobe using APC as the base and branching out with more wild and expensive designs for flavor.

The jeans aren't bad but once again pretty much everything except for maybe a few of the jackets aren't really 'being seen' clothes. I did post on that thread, I voted 'designer with a hardon for Egypt and neocon islamic fashion culture'

APC nailed it with their jeans, especially the New Standard. It can run the gamut from pretty slim:

to a sort of classic 501 fit:

Everything else is more eye catching in person, especially when you get a great fit out of it. I think Jean Toitou's goal is to mix good fits and good looking material with affordability and classic styling to offer fairly fashionable clothes that no one could fault you for. Compare those jeans with these Somets:

Which are both more fashion forward and more likely to make you look like an idiot.

Basically the brand vision is simply to be well-dressed, not a fucking fashion queen.

Fair enough. Those other two pics were some good threads, reminds me that I need some new denim. The irony that the 80 dollar jeans died before my 10 dollar Chinese forgery....

Before you break at least a bill you're usually compromising on quality, fit, or detailing, though it's perfectly possible to cop great designer stuff for pretty much the same prices as the shitty duds they sell at Nordstrom or H&M if you have the patience.

Dickies is/was (I don't keep up to date on brands like this) solidly constructed but all the clothes look like shit. H&M has good fits but I could put a hole in the clothes with a long hard stare.

I picked up a halfway decent pair [not at all particularly flash; regular cut with these fake-as-hell crinkles over the pockets, use 'em mostly for work] for a few bucks op-shopping but by and large I haven't bought by brand that often, although I really should simply so they don't all fall apart on me. I picked up a pair of made-in-Beijing Armanis for like 10 bucks that look real and seem to be able to take a beating, despite being fake shit.

Australian fashion is just weird. We don't get half the American or international brands unless they're big business.

For cheap jeans I normally recommend Levi's 501 STF but I know the price of mainline Levi's is absolutely FUCKED in most other countries, like $100+ for jeans that cost $40 in America. You don't have a whole lot of options in the cheap denim bracket cause most of it is either low quality and fashion forward (Cheap Monday) or decently built but you might as well change your name to Farmer John (Wrangler). This tends to apply to coats, sweaters, pretty much anything but t-shirts and sneakers.

For affordable fashionable jeans I recommend APC, Naked & Famous, or 3sixteen. APC has the best detailing but Naked & Famous is pretty close in fits and has a lot of really interesting options like cashmere denim, streaky denim, and very affordable natural indigo and heavy weight ball roasting denim. Both of these companies have physical locations in Sydney and Melborne IIRC so you can try on in person. I don't like the detailing on 3sixteen, with its extra belt loops and a leather patch that's designed to thread OVER a belt cause it's just so important to let everyone know what jeans you're wearing, but the quality and fit seems good. Price is $120 - $150.

For local options you have Ande Whall, on the other side of the ditch in NZ, who does absolutely fucking decadent jeans for $225 USD. Everything is A+, I'm considering these for my next pair.
