    Default Clam Chowder

    Cream
    Clams
    Bacon
    Potatoes
    Parsley
    Onion
    Black Pepper
    Salt
    can of corn
    Bay leaf
    Corn Starch

Cook the bacon til crisp and dice it.

Take a pot, and dump in canned clams (make it as clammy as you want) with clam juice.

Add diced potatoes, onion, bacon, and corn (drain the canning water first).

Add about 2 parts cream to 1 part water. Not sure of the absolotue amounts...I don't really pay attention to that.

Let it simmer til potatoes are done.

Sift in (and stir) corn starch til it's as thick as you like.

Add copious amounts of black pepper and fresh chopped parsley last.

The fresh parsley is AWESOME with this.

Throw in a bit of sherry with some tarragon and it tastes expensive.

Btw, you made New England chowder. A little tomato and you got Manhattan.

Last time I vomited in my life was about eight or so years ago. I had been feeling very sick all day and my siblings both had the bug, so I knew it was a matter of time before I hurled.

I managed almost the entire day without vomiting, only feeling nauseous. Then it happened: a commercial for clam chowder. One look at that thing and my body said "DO NOT WANT!!!1"

I have no idea how you people can eat that garbage.

You've got a point, it's not what you want when you're feeling pukey.

    But otherwise, it's nummy.

I knew a cook in Tucson that made clam chowder with seitan and seaweed - gave it that fishy taste, really nice stuff.

you know what makes clam chowdah even awesomer? Get the cans of tiny lil' baby clams. they are sweet and very tender.

no brainer: fresh clams would probably be even more awesomer.

you know what else? make a roux first, build your chowdah on top of that! oh yeah.

Wait a minute, I saw real potatoes and stuff in that ingredient list. Have you any idea how much that costs?

I can get 340 calories of low quality processed meat, synthetic flavourings and limp salad on low-quality white bread with sugar in the bun for $1.

How am I going to get 340 calories out of $1 worth of shellfish and fresh vegetables ? Surely that's impossible ?

    Isn't it ?
