I can't...Sociocide hasn't been letting me post pics for some time now.
Every time I try, the upload page bar goes to about 97% capacity and then abruptly stops. For some reason, the file will not upload 100%, no matter where I try to pull it from.

a real feminist would never cry

The whining is about the 'portrayal of a strong, super-heroine character as helpless and objectified'..or something to that effect.
In actuality, the artist was paying homage to Moore's Killing Joke storyline and the 'relationship' that was spawned between Barbara Gordon and the Joker after his vicious treatment of her in that graphic novel.
Its a great cover and I certainly would have bought it had it come to print.
Now I might just drop the Batgirl title altogether, which has been going downhill since they started trying to cater to a young, female demographic.

Has Disney bought up DC as well as Marvel?

No, thankfully, no.
Time Warner still owns DC.

As it is the artist themselves that has requested the censorship this is quite a conundrum

Once the work is out there, does the creator have a right to pull the piece, or once it is published does the illustration have a life of it's own?

The artist was sensitive to the uproar, and asked DC to pull it.
There have been a few incidents over the past while where various groups of people have ganged up on the comic industry for one reason or another.
- a 'sexually suggestive' cover of Spider-Woman came under fire by women's groups. It is now selling on ebay for well over a hundred dollars
These people are quite late to the party. Sexually suggestive covers are nothing new, and really started gaining steam in the 90's.
- some storyline featuring a cross-dressing character (not sure what title) with 'issues' got the gay, lesbian and trans-gendered crowd all upset because the portrayal hurt their feelings..
Fuck these idiots..cross dressers with issues ? No ! The hell you say !! *rolls eyes*

You don't need to upload a file to post an image hosted on another side. Just put a link to it inside [img] tags

What is the age demographic for comic readers these days OZZ?

Honestly, if the artist wants it pulled, then they should be allowed to pull it.

but is the author asking it to be pulled because he's sensitive to the objections, or because he's intimidated by them.

I don't know. But either way, it's amazing that the label would allow him that level of creative control.

They are just covering their asses, DC doesn't need or want the bad press either.

Sure, I get that. They have established a precedent, however. The next time one of their artists asks to pull a cover, they can point to this incident. DC would have known that when they agreed to it.

That was all kinds of awesome. I really REALLY hope some of the 'holier than thou' journalists that lambasted Marvel had a chance to see that.

I think that's the point

I expect Robin would have cried as well

But not The Batman, The Batman would agree to swap places with Batgirl/Robin

Joker would, of coarse, fall for it, oh! to have The Batman under his mercy, his power!

But with bat like reflexes The Batman overpowers Joker

Joker would then use some fiendish anti-personel weapon to momentarily incapacitate The Batman, and though only a moment, that is all the time Joker needs to make his escape

"Next time Batman." he would say to himself, "Next time."

I'm out-of-touch with the current mythos, but the Joker was the one whom crippled the Barbara Gordon Batgirl with a crowbar, putting her in a wheelchair, so the cover is supposed to be disturbing.
