So I've been trying to buy a peacoat for a year but last year everyone sold out of my size. This year I started early! But now I own two coats and can't decide which to return, so A or B?

A) Express Military Topcoat (http://www.express.com/wool-military-topcoat-28793-720.pro?absSectionID=1&absCategoryID=97&Mrsavf=SIZE_NAME&Mrsavf=category&Mrsavf=Color&Mpper=3&Mpos=5&Mcatg=category_root&Mft=military&Mrsaa=*&Mpg=SEARCH%2BNAV&Mcatpn=For+Him)

or

B) Banana Republic Peacoat (http://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?searchCID=25789&vid=1&pid=774661&scid=774661002)

Obviously both look awesome on me.

The Express one is not a pea coat. I'd keep them both because they're different, but if you gotta return one to eat this month or something I'd keep clothing from BR before I'd keep clothing from Express.

Actually you should totally return them both and spend the $500 on one badass coat.

I'm leaning that way too. The BR one seems like it would last longer both in terms of fashion and durability.

PS I know that topcoat != peacoat. My wife just loved the Express one in the store.

I have never understood the point in buying a coat like that if it wasn't leather.

Wool is warmer, classier, more versatile, and waterproof.

Also I already have a leather jacket.

Leather is cooler...wool is just cheaper.

How many leather jackets do I have to buy before I can get one in another material?

I'd go with the BR, but the pockets look like they might bulge if you have stuff in them. Then again it depends on the quality of the fabric and how its put together as well. I bought some jeans from them a while ago that I wasn't impressed with the quality of.

fuck you! You're buying that coat in kangaroo leather.

Not saying you can't, I just wouldn't bother.

Two: a fall jacket and a winter jacket.

Wool is in much better taste than leather. It is easier to clean, lasts longer, keeps you warm even when it is wet, and doesn't really go out of style. As long as you go with a relatively conservative cut jacket.

I'm probably in the minority, but I think leather jackets are tacky.

I'd like to find a true navy style peacoat, but the good ones are usually not cheap.

$20 will buy you about 1 yard of coating.

Which is why I have to make due with old stuff haha

A wool coat can last most of your life, or at least until your fat ass has one too many hamburgers. Cheaping out on it just means you're buying a coat that fits like ass and doesn't keep your warm, for the eight months it lasts until the short staple coating pills itself apart.

Which is why I intend to wait until such a time as I can actually afford a good one.

You could save the money faster by wasting less of it on nondurable goods.

I saw a really nice dark camel peacoat/reefer in a charity shop today for 12.00 but it was much too small for me.

MEGA JESUS-SAMA

What size?

Adouglasmhor

40R or 38R, 6 button DB, Darted, no moth holes or stains, unvented, 40% camel, 50% wool, 10% cashmere made in England but I think the fabric is Italian.
