you ask for a shot of whiskey; assuming they don't inquire further, what does the barkeep pour you?

in western Canada it's Royal Reserve or if it's a classy place Canadian Club.

Glenfiddich

Johnny Walker. I'll ask for green label though.

HappyOldGuy
10th August 10, 02:14 PM
Not something I'm likely to do, but it could be Dewars, Johnny Walker Red, or Cutty Sark.

RJ, do you mean what is the rail brand or what do I drink?

Adouglasmhor
10th August 10, 02:22 PM
Glenfiddich, Dewars, Johnny Walker & Cutty Sark are not whiskeys.
They are Whiskys.

If I have a Whiskey it will be Black Bush, if a whisky Antiquary or Jura*.

*In this case because I am on Jura.

I have never in my entire life had a bartender ask me how I wanted it spelled.

lant3rn
10th August 10, 02:34 PM
I think it all depends of what they have in house. usually crown royal

For scotch around here it's always Glenfiddech.

Ajamil

Why am I walking into a bar and not the liquor store?

MEGA JESUS-SAMA
10th August 10, 04:18 PM
because maybe you wanted to drink with other people tonight.

Ajamil
10th August 10, 04:19 PM
Yeah, so go buy your liquor and meet up with some other people.

MEGA JESUS-SAMA

what if you're new in town o finally emerging from mom's basement?

SoulMechanic

Well whiskey is almost always gonna be Jameson in North America.

Cullion
10th August 10, 06:17 PM
The house whisky in England is usually a cheap blend like Bells or Teachers. If you want something nice you'll ask for it by name.

Commodore Pipes
10th August 10, 06:17 PM
Around here it's Kessler's, I think. But it depends on the bar.

Robot Jesus
10th August 10, 06:59 PM
I meant well hooch. so many of you have scotch as the well sauce?

Commodore Pipes

I gotta tell you - that laphraoig really grew on me.

Ajamil
11th August 10, 12:32 AM
So I tried this at the bar for game night - I got Jim Bean.

Also hung out with a girl! A real one! With a BMI under 30, maybe 25! Lost at Wallenstein tho - but kicked ass in the zombie mall.

Did you guys compare vaginas together?

SFGOON

I usually ask for mixed drinks, like an old fashioned or a gin and tonic. Drinking scotch or whiskey is reserved for the company of close friends, and is almost never done in a public setting.

Things resembling Whiskey are kind of gross.

I try to like it. I really do.

Whiskey and water is indeed not the exception. It is the rule.

Can't drink whiskey after an unfortunate incident involving Jack Daniels, sherry and lemon juice.

But depending where you go, the well brand will be something like J&B on the high end to Bob's Liquors Brand Discount Whiskey on the low end.

I tend toward rum & tonic or gin & tonic, for the former Pyrat Reserve and for the latter Hendrick's or Junipero.

If were talking spirits, then one I enjoy the most is tequila, On the rocks or with soda and lime.

It'll smell like a tire fire on the United Fruit plantation. You should have it for a Lee Christmas party.

I was kidding (you can do what you like with your own drink I was being a little Scotlander)but I will see what I can do - you may still get hit with the duty on it though.

I like it neat with just a few drops from a key lime. I'm a Herradura guy when I can afford it. Otherwise I drink their lower end Antigua.

I'll drink it if it is free though. The best tequila I ever had came to me from some Mexicans I used to work with. I was in a plain milk bottle... No label... No worm... Definitely an aged agave tequila though. Very smooth. They said it was made in the village they grew up in. I've never tasted anything like it since.

I alwasy woundered if it were possible to do a tequila tasting tour down there.

Patron is piss water. Herradura was my codeword for a bombed asshole who I was cutting off from the bar. " Hey Anthony, I think that guy in the corner is maxed out on the hurrrrradurrrrr, no mas!" Get it, cause it is what a drunk retard sounds like.

I kill me sometimes.

We did those bi monthly when I was tending bar in Old Town. 20 different tequilas. We eventually had to stop doing this, people were getting really shitty after 5-6.

You can get tours of the commercial factories... Cuervo, etc.

A lot of tequila is made in small towns and sold locally. If you were good friends with some Mexicans you could probably go down with them when they visit their families on vacations. I was invited a few times by some of the cooks I used to work with but I never took them up on it.

There used to be about eight Londoners on Bullshido when our old club was going to Throwdowns regularly...
How times change.

Semi on topic. I just bought a bottle of makers 46, and I think there is a new mid shelf bourbon sherriff in town.
