This thread is about sandals. Here is what I am wearing currently:

Things I like about these sandals:
-Excellent tread. The tread on these sandals is better than the tread on some boots I have worn. The tread stilll works on wet terrain. I've had great luck with them canoeing.
-Comfort. These are probably the most comfortable sandals I've ever worn. They have good support and still have enough exposure to let your feet enjoy all that wonderful summer air.

I also want to know about anyone's attempts at constructing sandals. Has anyone tried something like this?

Just for that, I might just start a thread about comfortable and affordable khakis and matching suspenders.

Whoah.... I'm going to try that tire thing.
I actually just finished making a second pair of sandals. I'll have photos up soon.

My sandals have the dust of the holy land ground into them, and the paint of temples splashed on them. They're nasty, and they're awesome.

They are +1 holy sandals.

there's nothing wrong with chinos or suspenders

well it depends on the chinos or suspenders in question, doesn't it.

i just got some chinos from blue in green that are really nice. i don't think i would feel the same about some old navy ones, dockers, or wallmart's "faded glory" crap.

as for sandals? they almost always look terrible. yes i know they are comfortable, but they look terrible and no one wants to see your feet unless you're a foot model, and even then most people don't want to see your feet.

at the beach, wear flip flops. those are ok in that situation.

I like the Doc Marten fisherman sandals and will buy some when they get back to making them at Solovair in the UK as they are bringing production back from China.

It's not so much a matter of comfort as being temperature appropriate. Wearing socks and shoes in 95 degree weather like we had here yesterday makes you look and eventually smell like an ass.

i had no problem wearing these:

http://piperlime.gap.com/Asset_Archive/PLWeb/Assets/Product/577/577908/main/pl577908-00p01v01.jpg with short socks (the kind that don't go past the top of the shoe) for the past 2 days here in nyc with 100 degree weather and had no issues. however, i have good hygiene and change my socks daily.

also LMAO at "temperature appropriate" comment from a guy who dresses in leather, chain mail, and gladiator sandals.

I dunno, I think it's acceptable to aim lower than artisanal Japanese pants sometimes.

i don't think you realize how much my clothes buying habits have changed in the last 2 years... i pretty much don't want to wear anything that wasn't made in japan (or at least produced for a japanese brand.) between the quality and sizing issues i experience from most brands i am just about done with them all.

i had a revelation that i tend to wear basic classic clothes that don't end up looking dated in a couple of years, and that unless they wear out, i wear clothes for 10+ years, so it's worth the extra $ to buy quality stuff, and have it last and fit right.

This is true, but I keep the leather and chainmail appropriate for the season.
Maybe your feet get less sweaty than mine, but if I go out and about in a Michigan summer with socks and shoes on, I start feeling seriously gross quite quickly.

Yeah, that's what should motivate us: what is "hot right now"...

Oh, BTW, what's hot right now is my back-f-ing yard (106.5 F), so here are my sandals, Chacos & Skechers respectively:

That's my right foot. You can't see what rings are on the left, can you?

Ajamil
18th July 10, 08:50 AM
Besides that isn't how foot jewelry works. First off, no one puts a ring on the last two toes. Well maybe the pinky but those people are silly. Second, the "owned" ring goes around the ankle.

Kiko
18th July 10, 09:07 AM
I didn't know that.... about the toe rings.

Besides I usually wear that ring on my hand. Toe rings would drive me insane.

Ajamil

They're usually made with iron, and have a chain on them.

Most of the owned rings I see on people's ankles are made out of plastic and have a gps unit.
