View Full Version : Lingerie Football League - why has no one discussed this?!!

Harpy

http://www.lflus.com/

With team names likes Los Angeles Temptations, San Diego Seduction and Miami Caliente, plus what looks like some good football, why hasn't this been discussed on Sociocide yet??

We all know that women's sport in general can be boring to watch (women's cricket or basketball anyone?). This way, you get the viewing numbers up on women's sport and they seem pretty skillful.

So anyone else watch this? They're my new role models.

I'd say the career-expectancy of one of those women is less than that of a child actor for commercials

a) they have to stay pretty hot
b) they can get hurt just like regular football players

and like teh steev said, these women could make much better use of their time in front of the camera... in porn

edit: c) would have been "football ability" but we know that's a load of crap

It looks physical, not some pansy-esque game and seems like fun. Plus the women, despite what they're wearing, don't look trashy to me. Being fit is what makes them hot and injuries are part of sport. They don't seem like prissy princesses to me.

As for your and Steve's suggestion, that's been overdone and it's all set up. Plus not everything is about sex partyboy.

It is not the purpose of this venue to admire the athletic achievements but rather to admire their athletic and scantily clad bodies.

Anyone who argues otherwise is being disingenuous..

I've been reading up on it, 7 on 7, full contact. These ladies are athletic and committed.

Game time = Two 17-minute halves

Teams:
Philadelphia Passion
Chicago Bliss
Miami Caliente (lol)
Tampa Breeze
New York Majesty
Dallas Desire
Los Angeles Temptations
Denver Dream
San Diego Seduction
Seattle Mist (lame...Steve!)

Lily, as someone that lives in a country where rugby is held in high esteem, I wonder if you think the helmet/pads would aid in their well being. It's a gimmick and makes the sport more dangerous when done halfassed.

That is the main thing that bothers me.

Japuma
28th April 10, 11:45 PM
If I want to watch hawt wimenz in their underwear I'll watch some porn. There's no need to watch any wimenz sports as it really is a just a sub-par product.

Harpy
28th April 10, 11:49 PM
Steve, maybe you need to go to a Seattle Mist game and canvas for safety in the sport.

I don't think the headgear is necessary, as long as the rules ensure no head first spear tackles, head shots, elbows to the head, they're good to go. Mouthguards, elbow and knee pads (groin guard for anyone who wants it) and they're set!

Lily: "I don't like the cynical exploitation of women in movies"

Lily: "I like the cynical exploitation of women in sports"

Harpy
29th April 10, 12:07 AM
It's not cynical exploitation. They're using what god gave them to increase interest in women's sport and they come across looking strong, competent and good while they're at it.

It's unfortunate that women have to play to men's desires to gain higher viewer ratings but if that's what it takes for these girls to pit themselves athletically against other sportswomen, then they'll do it. The name of the league and the uniforms are just 'Marketing', the real substance and content is the sportsmanship, ability and commitment they display. Hopefully they build up good fan bases in their cities and become a league to contend with.

IT'S A GIMMICK. Can I say it any louder? It's utter bullshit.

If you think they are trying to empower women by having them compete in lingerie; for god sakes it is that word that implies that it is supposed to be sexy (otherwise they'd call it underwear sports and have male leagues too), you are retarded.

Harpy
29th April 10, 12:14 AM
*sigh* Steve and Ian bashing me as usual, guys...let's discuss the league, or not.

This is my perception of it, I respect that you feel its 'cycnical exploitation' and/or a 'gimmick'.

Harpy

You do have a point but you dismiss mine on the basis of misunderstanding prior posts.

Find me where I said I don't like women being exploited in films Ian. Then we'll talk. The only thing I recall bringing up was the inappropriateness of one female action heroine's costume based on impracticality.

I am currently interested in the team sport aspect, the professional structure and the real physicality of this league. You might want to do an expose on mud wrestling though?

Sometimes you'll baffle me. At times you read too much into things, at others you pretend there's no 'real issue'. What's up with that?

Jesus.
It sucks on several levels.
First, they're wearing retard helmets.
Secondly, they aren't naked.
Thirdly, as sports go, ten year old boys show more talent and athleticism.
lastly, they aren't naked.

Now why would men want to watch a bunch of overdressed bimbos not having sex while they play sports badly?

This may well be a mystery that you can never solve.

Adouglasmhor

Now why would men want to watch a bunch of overdressed bimbos not having sex while they play sports badly?

If it's just about the sport Lily, why not women's soccer (or football to give it its proper name) or women's rugby? I don't think their athleticism in UK and France at least is in any doubt or their team spirit and skill.

Harpy
29th April 10, 01:11 AM

The level of athleticism and skill is still far below that of men's sports so men will never be interested in it unless they are naked.

Harpy
29th April 10, 01:14 AM
Athleticism is different from skill. If a woman can run, tackle, score in a similar way a man can (pound for pound), why don't you think they're 'skillful'?

Most of you guys are just not 'used' to watching sport in this way so you're comparing it to the 'known template' (mens' football). You need to open your collective minds.

nihilist
29th April 10, 01:19 AM
I didn't say they weren't skillful.
I said that is was on a level below the men.

Why would a person want to watch something that is less exciting?

They wouldn't, unless they are friends and family or groupies hoping to get "tackled".

Adouglasmhor
29th April 10, 01:20 AM
I once played a charity game against a women's forces select.
We had a handicap we had to play in wellies and only allowed the front row in scrums.
They kicked lumps out of us.
High tackled. (it was Union I don't know if women play league).
Rucked like mad.
I give them a lot of respect, seeing I was a senior player who had played in record breaking sides at the time.

Harpy
29th April 10, 01:25 AM
They wouldn't, unless they are friends and family or groupies hoping to get "tackled".

This makes me really sad about womens' sports. The bleachers are never full, its always their die hard mums, dad, grandparents, godkids, some boyfriends, girlfriends and as you say, the 'groupies', that turn up.

Womens' tennis and golf are well covered and have good spectator numbers.

Why would a person want to watch something that is less exciting?

A different mix of 'excitement', plus something fun to do and on top of that supporting the ladies? Guess that's not enough but it's piqued my interest at least in participating at some level in contact sport. It was never part of my childhood, never ever encouraged, I've never had a fight with other girls etc. Might be fun.

The only female sport worth watching is volleyball, IMO. Tennis used to be okay until Monica Seles ushered in the era of the annoying grunt/scream thing. Seemingly all female players do it nowadays, and fuck, that shit makes it utterly unwatchable for me.

As for the lingerie bowl or whatever it's called, it's already been said by everyone else. No need for me to be an echo.

Anyone who says they watch volleyball (womens or mens) outside of the olympics is fucking lying.

There are not enough top notch women athletes to compete at the high level of pro-sports as set by men athletes. Look at the WNBA, it's up there with Soccer as the most popular woman's sport and it's all jump shots and lay-ups. There's no excitment, no stars and nothing to market. While I can admire the skill and athleticism it takes to play high level woman's sports, it is not and will never be on the same level as men.
