View Full Version : My skiing is CHASTE

I have emerged beautiful from this trip. I have gained a gorgeous parallel curve to my skiing. A wonderful lesson has shown me the error of my previous, heel-heavy and wide legged ways. Now my knees are as tight as NoB's...everything...is loose. I am carving, I am flexing and extending, I am digging in sharp with my toes and leading my turns with my hip. You want me. I am so pretty I should be fornicating, but I am skiing.

Days after the big snowstorms, we arrive in Whitetail to brave the slopes and their slushy-made ice/snow. But the skies were pretty and the air warm.

Mom has her skis, but my nephew Andrew and I got a full package deal - rental, all slopes all day, and a lesson at your level for $95. Pretty good deal. Once suited up, we took a light run and posed for the before shots. Note the cheapskate bike helmet.

And after all that, Mom doesn't even wear a helmet. Should've given her mine.

Slopes were recently groomed, so it wasn't good snow, but throughout the day there were less people on the slopes than it seemed at the bottom. I guess a lot of people didn't like the day and went home early or just sat around the lodge. Here's a nice shot of the valley.

And now a shot of some serious shredding!! By shredding, of course, I mean sliding parallel through a just forming mogul - flattening it's life and it's hopes forever.

A few runs and Moms joints rebelled, so she went in and we went off to our lesson. He was a laid back guy about my age named Chris (his dad was an instructor on the slopes too). Our lesson took a half hour longer than normal, I'd say mostly because my and my nephew's ADD was stronger than his lesson plan determination. Anyway, it really helped my ski thinking, but this metamorphosis had to wait. Wait until the world changed to fit my new form, my new essence.

And so we mastered the art of going straight down a mountain. And we mastered the art of not freaking out in mogul fields. Well, not really, but I can do them pretty confidently now. Next up? Why the ramps, of course.

Which were absolute horrids to try and capture with my cheapo camera. This is Andrew scoping out the second jump in the mini park. There was a halfpipe park at another slope, but I wasn't in the mood to try that on skis. We didn't get any good pics of the jumps, but there were some wonderful vid shots that you can laugh at. At least I'll put mine here for proper ridiculing. At least on this recording I didn't wipe out.

Dude, it totally looked like you bit it on that jump. You paid your nephew to dress up in a similar outfit as you to ski on after the landing, amirite? (the distance from camera could mask the height difference)

That was the only time I didn't topple immediately after landing.

Uh, you might want to keep that to yourself.

I guess your skiing isn't so chaste after all.

He was chaste down a hill by the warlords so you're wrong.

What happened to losing the wide legged stance as posted above?

They may have been tailing him, but I don't think he was really trying to escape.

What happened to losing the wide legged stance as posted above?Like the golden hind, it was too beautiful to capture on film. That and I never thought to have my nephew film me simply carving down a mountain, but when he wanted to try the ramp park, I wanted a pic, which turned into both of us trying to get pics, then both of us getting filmed.

Edit: No wait, it's a white hind with golden hooves and silver antlers.
