Someone did a review of various chainmaille-related fashion items on Etsy, and the shop I sell through (Nimbletoad) came up. Enjoy.

Its so awesome that MJS's little faggy fashion forum got overrun by Orc Couture.

McClaw, although I tease you constantly for looking like Legolas' effiminate kid brother, your chainmail is fucking badass.

I really don't see the need to try and foster any animosity between McClaw and MJS. They both don't do fatties and if anything has been a recuring theme through most of the threads in here, it would be that.

They're like two sides of the same coin, actually.

I'm a switch, but I generally prefer to top.

See that, Snake? If they'd work together in this top/bottom business, they really could be two sides to the same... uh... coin.

If I posted heavily stylized cdlothing you'd just complain that it's silly shit that would look ridiculous off the runway. Go back to your acryllic cat sweaters.

Kiko
11th February 10, 09:18 AM
Most fashion is ridiculous. Recycled trends for those with more money than they know what to do with. The runway is meant for outlandish stuff normal people won't wear.

On the other hand, it's not just the same old social/political/anti religious views, and you DID add us a new forum.

Acrylic cat sweaters? Cats don't like clothing!!

Meh. If I gotta wear a shirt under it, it's not my sweater.

Besides, this is McClaw's thread. We can go bicker somewhere else, can't we?

No.

You're supposed to wear a shirt under sweaters.

Only if they're itchy, and why are you wearing itchy sweaters unless someone you care about wants to see you in it?

Kiko

I only wear soft sweaters, so I don't need shirts. You've mistaken me for some preppy person.

Depends on a couple of factors; Are we talking about like a sleeveless shirt, or a full-sleeved knee length coat?
For a sleeveless shirt, probably at least 400 USD. It kind of depends on how skinny you are.

TheMightyMcClaw

Hmm.... I've never really considered scale mail pants. I've thought about doing chain ones, but not scale. I'm not sure how the crotch would work on those; it'd be a lot easier to do scale mail chaps.
Considering I usually charge 350 for a scale skirt.... full length pants would be at least twice that.
I'd certainly recommend a scale kilt and greaves over pants/chaps, as it'll be cheaper and a lot cooler looking.

my recent forays into metal have reminded me that for a while in high school a guy I worked with wanted me to be the vocalist for his metal band. I turned him down because I could only do a sentence or so in my metal voice, and i wasn't really into it at the time.
recently I've been working on my metal voice and you got me thinking of a stage costume.

jeans are right out, but what sort of leggings would work? boots?

and now I just need to find a band that needs a vocalist with no musical skill.

EDIT:on second thought thats not true, I have a decent sense of rhythm and can play very simple bass lines.

Presuming you're not fat, get a pair of leather pants. The ones I make (http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=36301826) are the sweetest, if you've got the cash.
If you are fat, then some weight, and then get a pair of leather pants.
For boots, go for combat boots, engineer boots, or cavalier boots. I can also hook you up with some tight chainmail boot covers. (http://th03.deviantart.net/fs39/300W/i/2008/361/7/a/Grand_Ultimate_Shit_Kickers_by_MetalArtisan.jpg)

Chain pants? The only way to work around those is with a leather codpiece. If you can't handle wearing one, don't bother with the chain!

No, you wear a shirt under a sweater so you don't stank that shit up.

jeans are right out

Why would jeans be out?

Kiko
13th February 10, 01:45 PM
You wear deodorant. You can also hand wash your sweaters. Unless you don't want to smell of Woolite.

MEGA JESUS-SAMA
13th February 10, 02:06 PM
Undershirts beneath sweaters or button-fronts are like underwear for pants.

Kiko
13th February 10, 02:19 PM
Girls have these special 'undershirts' you see. They usually don't sweat as much or as pungently as boys. Usually.

MEGA JESUS-SAMA

You wear undershirts under sweaters unless you're trying to rock the 'stubble and chesthair' look. It better not be too tight under the arms.
