Some parents want to keep their kids home so their idiotic little brains aren't subverted by Komrade Obama's message

My favorite quote is this

"The thing that concerned me most about it was it seemed like a direct channel from the president of the United States into the classroom, to my child." Curtiss, an engineer from the Houston suburb of Pearland, said he planned to keep his three children home on Tuesday. "I don't want our schools turned over to some socialist movement."

I wonder how much this idiot is applying in tuition at the private school she sends her kids to... Oh wait public school.

Education for everyone paid for and run by government!!!

SOCIALISM!!!!!!!!!!!

Local conservative radio show this morning talking about how Obama is going to give a presidential speech during school hours so kids could watch at school

And conservatives were PISSED!!! They were calling in saying that they were pulling thier kids out and telling the schools they didn't want their children listening to "that man", saying it's the job of the parents and not the federal government to educate children, saying that schools were Marxist havens whose job it is to turn kids into indoctrinated socialists, saying that Christians are censored in our country but Muslims can say whatever they want and get preference, and yelling things like "Obama better not try to talk to MY kids when he won't even show me his birth certificate!"

Some of these people were yelling these things. Others were saying things like "apparently nobody wants to believe the truth when I give it to them" etc etc bullshit.

Yeah, you conservatives need to get a fucking leash on it.

Further proof that conservatives and republicans all should have failed 2nd grade.

I've now reached the conclusion that Republicans are not just people of a certain political mindset, but are actually simply racist/crybaby/fundamentalist/terrorist/sore-losers/retards.

I hope Obama changes it so that you cannot graduate from 2nd grade if you are a Republican.

I can understand people being worried about a president with a cult of personality addressing kids in school, but I'll wager that few of these people were upset about George Bush reading that story about the Goats on 9-11-2001.

Telling kids to stay in school doesn't always make sense, but, whatever. We all know that these people aren't worried about the message, but are playing sports with politics over who the messenger is.

Maybe they were keeping to kids home so they could write that letter he asked for.

Ajamil
5th September 09, 02:19 AM
You have to admit, the part where they were supposed to write a letter on how they could help the president seems a little political. Good thing they repackaged that with a letter on how they want to further their educational goals. And a nice anecdote I heard was the schoolteacher who tried to get his class to write an essay on how Obama was the greatest president.

Seriously though, why is this a dark chapter in the great US of A but the fireside chats are looked back on with fondness?

Obama's speech will probably be the IRL equivalent of those 'St. Albion's Parish Newsletters' Private Eye used to print, poking fun at Tony Blair's rather smug, pious and authoritarian tone.

Meanwhile, in 20 years' time there will probably be retrospective articles on Obama's DAY OF EVIL on web sites, poking fun at how silly it all was, backlash included.

Ya know... in 14 or so years, when another Democrat is running against another Republican, after the last Republican has gotten us into a bunch of new wars and given tons of extra $$$ to oil barrons and poluters and white collar criminals, the Republican party will still be screaming "BUT COMMUNISM/SOCIALISM AND GUNS, AND THEY ARE GOING TO TAKE OUR FREEDOM!!!"

Replublicans will howl, "TERRORISTS AND 9/11!!!!"

Republican talking heads will add, "SECCESSION AND WE NEED A MILITARY COUP TO PROTECT OUR COUNTRY FROM OLIGARHs!!!"

Conservatives will bleet, "FORCED ABORTIONS!!!"

And hollar, "THE DEMOCRAT ISN'T EVEN AN AMERICAN!!!!"

And then, "EUTHANASIA AND FORCING PARENTS TO KILL THEIR CHILDREN!!!"

And "THEY WANT TO DESTROY OUR COUNTRY FOR EVIL!!!"

And "THEY HATE AMERICA THE CUNTRY I LOVE!!!"

They'll protest and fill the streets and "tea-bag" each other or "give each other heads" or something. They'll picket and say things are unfair. And that poor, white christians are the only discriminated against group. They'll feel righteous hatred.

And then, those of us who remember, those of us who recall, will remind the Republicans, "You know, you said all of that and more under Obama, and things turned out pretty okay."

And then they'll screech "BUT THIS TIME ITS ALL TRUE!!!!"

McCain was trying to address a political constituency with a lot of very blunt, literalist religious Christian views, and his personal life hasn't been to their liking I don't think.

He ditched the wife who raised his kids and constantly campaigned for his release whilst he was a POW because she lost her looks after a car accident, to hook up with a pretty heiress who funded his political career. That shit does not fly with devout Christians.

AIUI his voting record is also on the liberal side of a lot of issues, by Republican standards.

Yes I know all about that. I think the American public are ready now.
Parhaps we could go full circle and have them duel in huge sand pit where we could see the retiarius pitted against the secutor.

Night vision is horrible to watch.

Seeing people running away into the woods via nightvision is just a turnon for me.

You know there's a reference to Baseball (apparently) in Northanger Abbey? It wasn't an American invention, as much as Americans disagree.

I haven't read it. It could be talking about Rounders, which confusingly enough was sometimes referred to as Baseball, but it's not exactly the same game.

But yes, of course it was invented in Britain. Just like everything else.
