Okay, so the fascination with obesity around here reminded me of a movie I saw 20 years ago, just before it was pulled off the market.

"Superstar: The Karen Carpenter Story" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0094075/) was an early (student?) film by Todd Haynes. (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001331/) Using Barbie dolls, live-action animation, intricate sets, period media minutia, experimental intercutting and unlicensed songs, Haynes created an incredibly powerful and innovative short film about Karen Carpenter's battle with anorexia.

When the film was released Mattel threatened to sue, but Richard Carpenter and A&M records put the nail in the coffin by refusing to license the music. Apparently Haynes never thought the film would be released commercially, so he made it the way he wanted (apparently on a shoestring budget).

Now, thanks to youtube, I can see it again. So can you -- but you never know how long it will stay available.

Wow, all things considered (production value, dolls, etc) that was very well done. Can someone tell me how to save a video from youtube before it gets taken off the net
