I have been working my ass off lately and have dropped down to a 34. I don't want some stupid shit with big pink threaded embroidery showing the world my love of dong. Just some good fitting man pants. I normally have a woman help me with these things but I find myself without a woman worth the headache of going to a shopping mall with at the moment and I need dem jeans son.

For jeans? 501's.

Overrated.

Yeah, but everything that's rated higher won't be in 2 years.

I grant the longevity and enduring fit/style point.

But there are plenty of good, well-made jeans, without the hype, e.g. American Rag.

(Made in Australia, so they're solid.)

Might be different there, but as long as you're a smart shopper, there really isn't a price difference here between those and levi's.

Possible. It wasn't the price I was so worried about. It was the 'omg levi's' hype. And you weren't exhibiting that, I know - it's a reflex reaction to the time I grew up.

But I digress...

I bought a pair of American Rag jeans for about $4 second-hand. Best pair of jeans I've owned. They're breaking now, but I got more than my money's worth. (Just bought a new pair for something like $80.)

If you're athletic, go with a straight cut, slim or loose fit (any brand, just find a color you like). If you're fatter, get some straight cut relaxed. Again, any brand should be fine, as long as you don't buy cheap Wal Mart knock offs (unless you have to, but if you do realize they won't last long enough for the savings to be worth it. Avoid boot cuts unless you actually wear boots on a regular basis.

Im not fat but I do like my jeans a bit baggy. Growing up skateboarding cursed me. That and I wear a size 13 shoe. Big feet+tight jeans= goofball. Odd seeing all the kids at the local skatepark in what appear to be their baby sisters pants while im rockin some baggies. They look at me funny, I look at them funny and realize I'm not so young anymore.

What are Carharts?

Ahh now your speaking man speak. They make some wicked jackets.

Carhartt is Dickies for white people. Good thinking man.

Wait... Dickies aren't white people clothing????

I gotta take this shirt off before the local KKK chapter finds me...

SM: are these jeans work-related? Ie. if you jeans that are make you look goofy, are you going to suffer economic consequences? Remember, fashion is for faggots, social congruence is for men with families/themselves/xboxes to feed. I'd say go with a relaxed cut if you like a little space, if you're athletic AND thin enough you can do a loose cut. I might be able to suggest some shoes for you to avoid drawing attention to the foot (that's hard with chicks though.)

levi's 501 STF
size up:
0 for a decent slim fit (might want to wear them while they're drying so the waist doesn't shrink on you
1 for a normal fit
2 (levi's suggestion) for a baggy fit.
they just changed them to fit a little slimmer with a lower rise.

RRL and Gap do good jeans for only a little more and have no back pocket stitching at all, if that's what you're looking for.

Shopping for clothing w/o a woman can be fun. It gives you an opportunity to roll up on cute females and politely ask their opinions. (Best to start simple, say with a pair of shirts and ask "A or B?") Even if you have a significant otter, it can be enlightening to use a stranger's eye now and again.

part2:
whatever fit you find that tickles your fancy, get the darkest and heaviest wash you can. you can always wash it until it's the shade you want and it usually looks better in the long run
can't stand that so many new jeans come with the blue already washed out of them

this:

is just as retarded as those half destroyed A&F jeans

Naw they are not work pants. I wear dickies at work. These are pick up woman pants. I like mine to fit with a nice solid leather belt and enough room for belt buckle. No cowboy bullshit, not that kinda belt buckle. Sama that's a good suggestion. About getting a darker color and letting them fade out naturally.

Oh I see where you're coming from.

Well, nothing says 'I don't give a fuck what you think, sweet cheeks' like burmada shorts and a pair of crocs.

maybe the model's pair just isn't sized correctly but damn

if you don't mind getting a little spendy you can pick up some Naked & Famous for only about $80, down from $120 - $130.

Butch up and go buy some Montgomery Ward work pants.
Bruce Campbell wore those for years and he is far more manly then you will ever hope to be.
