View Full Version : Denim, only not in jeans.

I have a special place for denim in my heart, right in between my love of button flies and M65s.

I like this shirt, from Mister Freedom. The pocket is whatever but that denim is stunning. I love the way it honeycombs in the elbows.

too bad it doesn't look as epic on the model
http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t67/BullshidoTrail/MF_cpo_01.jpg

I like this Self Edge shirt in white denim, cause blue jeans + blue denim top is not ground I am willing to tread. The diagonal button holes are a neat detail too. I'm not digging the Western shoulders though, they buy too much into that coal miner aesthetic.
http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t67/BullshidoTrail/natural_01.jpg

This is from Flat Head. I'm digging this less, the denim doesn't look as slubby as I like, and the detailing is also too heavy on the cowboy/miner thing.

Denim t-shirts! I didn't even realize they were denim at first, they look pretty cool. The bias grain is really fetching.

I'd worry about them fading the same way jeans do though, in the high wear areas like the shoulders. That looks cool on jeans but on a t-shirt it would probably just look like you've been wearing it too long.

If you could get heavy roping on the hems it would be pretty dope.

That white denim shirt (bar the yee-haw shoulders) is not bad at all.

It wouldn't suit me, but it's a good looking shirt.

I'm not seeing the virtues of the denim Ts. They look...I don't know...as if you're trying too hard.

I like the audacity of denim over cotton for a tshirt.

otherwise it would just be a tshirt

DAYoung
26th July 09, 04:53 AM
'audacity'

Fair enough.

And, if it were common, it'd be less audacious?

It's an excuse for the girls to grab the tshirt and ask "is that denim?"

Tell me why.

Cotton is textureless, denim is not. You look at a coloured regular tshirt and you see just the colour; the denim tshirt has some badass grain to it, makes it look rough and awesome.

This, though there's also the personal desire to feel a denim T, and I never liked most button-up denim shirts.

Plenty of t-thirts have a weave or grain to them. And I think they're cotton...

Here's a chambray where the yeehaw shoulders sort of work, because they mimic the shape of the pockets. Still would prefer normal people shoulders.

I'm actually digging that helmet.

I think it's the pocket they put on it :)

Also, I really like the first shirt pic and the Denim T's. I'd wear Denim T's...

I remember I once wore a t-shirt made out of towel-like substance. The women couldn't stop touching it to see if it was real. But once they were done they were like "that shirt feels so cool, but, it's hideous :P"

This is a strange collaboration. J. Crew, a mall brand, teamed up with Mister Freedom, a brand you're only familiar with if you're in to the reproduction scene, to make a, uh, denim pea coat.
