Call it a little neurotic but I like having my forums "read".

However, I don't like to actually read every single topic. I do, however, enjoy seeing new posts and hoping that a thread I like will be in there and not have to wade through several dozen to find the goodness.

Right now only CTC has the option to 'mark forum as read'.

Is that on purpose?

It is to screw with people with OCD.

I'd like the "View First Unread" button inside threads fixed, I've been harping the powers that be on that topic for months...

Oh, I mean I hope someone gets that sorted for you shortly, resolve.

Limited power, limited function........
the once mighty STEEV, a veritable Sociocide Stallion, now relegated to "Birthday Pony Ride" status......

At least now I can climb on top of him without assistance.

You always have to find a way to twist the knife, don't you Snake?

Good thing I enjoy my pain and inadequacies almost as much as I enjoy the attention.

Does it help the pain with Lulzy climbing atop, or merely add discomfort?

Nah, I'm not OCD. I'm just used to it on, you know, every other forum I visit/have visited ever in the life age of the interbutts.

*sigh* whatever...

Sorry, Resolve. I'd help if I could, but I'm not even certain I'm seeing the same problem as you.

I think I have come to the truth of it now.

The person who put the forums together meticulously reads every thread, obsessing over them until they feed into a compulsion.

However, they could not stomach the drivel and insanity of CTC every day. So they ignored it, at first...

But then, the little graphic "light" would still be shining saying "you have unread articles in CTC... you MUST!"

It itched and burned in the back of their brain until they simply looked at every other forum around and saw that they had a "mark forum as read" feature. They then implanted this feature just in CTC so they didn't have to have that forum defecate on their mind every day and they could still have every topic "read".

Hmm...

All of these problems will be resolved when Tom Kagan invents a means for VBulletin to work across domains with a single sign on.

For which the VBulletin people should pay him a billion dollars. Literally a billion dollars.

Oh man, I totally understand the complexities of things like VBulletin, C#, etc... it's stuff like that that turned me off to internet programming (I used to be an XHTML and DHTML masta!).

Not until I get around to telling the %^#(^(@Q I work for that full time is the WRONG thing for me and they either let me cut back to part time or we have a nice showdown.

Um... Just read the threads that interest you and then mark the rest as read... that's what I do... *shrug*
