So... seems like there may be only one or 2 people on here interested in cars, but hey, I'm a bit of a car geek, so thought I'd start this.

New and up coming models. Anything interesting on your side of the pond?

Over here in Europe there's a load of new models and concepts coming out. The ones I'd like to see are:

The new Alfa Romeo Mito GTA concept, which is supposedly going to be rather close to the production model.

http://www.asphalte.ch/Events/GVA09/AlfaRomeo/LZ7M0002.jpg

The touted numbers for this model is 240bhp, 0-60 in 5 seconds and a top speed of around 155mph.

There also showing the new Audi TTRS

Finally might get rid of the image of being driven by gay men and hairdressers. 0-60 is 4.6 seconds and top speed of 172. Prices are a bit nuts though, in the UK its going on sale for about 43 grand.

one to miss, the new BMW 5 series Gan Turismo. What a hideously ugly car...

I'm derailing this thread for just a second to point out that you're jonesing for a 43,000 euro car but couldn't bring yourself to see why I'd spend a paltry $200 on jeans.

Can your jeans let you run at over 100mph and score shallow chicks?

My point was that he didn't see any problem in spending a lot of extra money for a nice car but change cars to clothes and suddenly he finds it absurd.

I'm bringing this thread back on the rails to point out how that car Scrapper showed us doesn't have the familiarity or charisma of old classic Corvette. When will Americants learn.

I hope that just a concept car.

Yeah that Vette looks like something I'd get in a cereal box.

I think you'll notice I said the price was a bit nuts. Sorry, this was my understating the fact. Thats a sodding ridiculous amount to pay for a car. I do not have the spare cash to do so. You can like good cars without buying them you know. I also said I can see why you want to spend 200 on jeans, but do not see the benefits over the expense myself.

Plus cars are better. Ner ner ner. ;)

On that Vette, be interesting to see how the styling changes when they try to put it into production. The recent trend in concept models has been futuristic angles and lines, but they really get altered before going to sale.

I disagree, I think it has just has much throwback design to the old stingrays as the new carmeros and new chalengers have. It the same classic lines of the stingray, just with an updated style.

Corvette needed a reboot, and the stingray concept pays homage to ALL the classics. the big issue here is that it will be MID-ENGINE.

Side view is definitely very nice, but not sure I like the grill.

Mid engine is a problem? Isn't that going to give it better weight distribution and handling?

Yes, the fact that it will be mid-engine should make all the Viper fanboys shit themselves in fear, Ferrari nuthuggers should be concerned too. I can't wait to see the times from Nuremburg in this thing.

Mid engine is a GOOD thing.

This car is going to HAUL.

Ah got it, I read you saying the big issue is that its mid engine, and took it mean a negative. Doh.

First one's a fiat with a new skin.

Second one is a VW with a new skin.

And the third one is a fat X5.

Fuck new cars.

Ugh, I was just about to berate Ferrari for going the way of corvette. In fact from the angle of the pic that works, it looks like a reverse corvette.

Edit: Rear pic showing now. Looks better from that angle, but I still don't like the humped chassy over the wheel look.

Those pictures as renders, and renders always look worse than real pictures in my mind. They always seem to go for some mean stance that overplays the perspective....

Anyway, heres a picture of the new ferrari, no body camouflage though the white is meant to be there to visually mask the outline...
