First bike was some sort of beach cruiser, like a stripped-down Pee-Wee Herman thing. If it was this exactly, I wouldn't be surprised:

Huffy was my first bike which wasn't a hand-me down. My actual model was a USA, but the essentials on this one look identical.

Then I rode a hand-me down Schwinn Continental which was too big for me (though mine was bronze)

Then I went bikeless for quite a while.

Then I got a hand-me down Schwinn Varsity, which again was a bit too big for me.

Then I found some cheap-ass pieces of crap (man and woman's) from a garage sale, this time they were grossly undersized. Mine was burgundy. My wife actually likes hers.

Then the tire went flat on it, and I couldnt justify investing any money in it, so I rode my wife's bike which was a casino comp from her father when she was 15. I can't even find the fucker, it's so cheap and obscure. St. Tropez is the brand.

Fuck it, I said. I'm getting one that fits.

So I got this:

Holy fuck balls. Things have improved slightly since 1986.

I can actually carry this bike. It's responsive. I can cover ground as if to travel in some sort of practical sense.

Amazing.

Oh, and the Huffy was from Zayre, if that means anything to anybody.

I'm borrowing my land-lady's neighbor's bike right now. Her being a woman and all, the bike has some pink all over it. But otherwise it's a decent mountain bike. I'm sort of afraid of breaking it, though. I don't know how far I can push it before it keels over.

Back home I have some weird multi-gear mountain/road bike hybrid thing. I wanted to spend ~$500 on a bike last summer and started scouring pawn shops. I found a guitar and a bass I bought on an impulse, total $700. I spent $80 on the bike.

I had a shitty bmx from kmart that I rode until I was about 13.

didn't cost me anything. I think if I bought a bike now it would be a motorbike.

Whoever wrote the list of specs for that webpage should be punched in the testicles.

"Confidence-inspiring Kenda Kwest 700x32c tires" Kenda is low-end. I only ride on Continental or maxxis. kenda wtf. and what kind of crap is that anyways, that's like selling a honda and touting the great michelin tires it comes with. bitchslap!!

anyways, decent ride.

Well tires are tires. I mean, if it holds air it's fine. i just find that the quality of rubber they use doesn't hold up as well as other brands. i don't think i've seen the kwest brand for roadbikes so maybe it's one of their higher-end models.

That's not actually my bike but in answer to your question - I used to. Nowadays I mainly use the off road capabilties for cutting across parks and the like.

No no no, my question was do you mountain bike off road with a kid in the backseat.

bob

No, I haven't tried genuine offroading yet but I'd like to. He's pretty cool about it when I do stuff like jump gutters and cut across fields. He just says 'Whoah! You ok daddy?'

New thing.

I want everyone to neg rep me. Only neg rep. I want to try to invert my rep scale.

Start...now.

Your reverse psychology almost worked on me. You're more clever than your avatar makes you look.

Trikes are for big kids now, so even I may get to ride a bike*

*I have my suspicions.
