View Full Version : Post your Top 5/10 Favorite Songs of all time.

I figured this would be a good way for everyone to give a good idea where we all stand musically.

ATTN MJS: DON'T FILL THIS UP WITH A HUNDRED SINGLE VIDEO POSTS OF WHATEVER THE HELL YOU HAPPEN TO BE LISTENING TO RIGHT AT THIS MOMENT. I'm glad you like something other than top 40 pop music, please give JUST ONE LIST and not a complete fucking anthology of your taste in music.

I respect a discriminating ear, but I don't want this thread to degenerate into pretentious one up manship wherein we get a huge number of video posts from just one or two guys.

Fuck what other people think, just post what you like to listen to.

Just one top 5 or 10 (NO MORE THAN 10 please) videos if you absolutely can't narrow it down to 5. I realize these things can be of a transient nature for many people so feel free to edit your list. Feel free to critique other people's taste or lack thereof at your leisure.

Here's mine in no particular order. I couldn't possibly say which one of these was better than the other though I'm especially partial to Johnny Cash.

Johnny Cash
"When the man comes around"

GQ_jQDfFaZI

This had to go in here. Johnny Cash is my all time favorite musician. I was raised a red neck and perhaps I'll die one. I've been listening to country music against my will most of my life, Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson are the only ones I ever liked.

Led Zeppelin
"Immigrant Song"

CxFxkhG3U3k

Ironically, I'm not a big fan of Zeppelin, I just really like this song.

Ozzy Ozbourne
"Killer of Giants"

Zf7M4J4xxt8

And I really don't give a shit if you don't like the message in the song.

Primus
"Fisticuffs"

-H3EKaeiaTo

The Ramones
"The KKK took my baby away"

k-Gj72Mdn34

This last one has always been a personal favorite of mine. It takes on an extra dimension for me now as I'm interracially married. That, and the Ramones are probably the least hyped, most influential band in the history of rock.

You do know that there is a thread for this with unlimited entries? (http://www.sociocide.com/forums/showthread.php?t=45704)

Well, I was trying to achieve something different here. If i limited it down to just a selective number all in one post it wouldn't be so chaotic where people just posted a huge buttload of crap they are listening to right now.

I hoped this would turn into something where people had to put a bit more thought in to it and wouldn't just be a long list of things dominated by only a few people.

My goal was to avoid a bunch of group think and apathy generated by too much exposure to just a few diarretic posters.

I personally don't like to wade through a giant montage of whatever the hell. limiting it to just a few songs forces people to give things a bit more thought. It also shows more of the person's identity, in my opinion.

Oddly enough I love Johnny Cash too chris. And I can't understand you thinking the Ramones are underrated. I always thought they were awesome.

Steve: Steve Miller Band - win!

Re: the Ramones. They never had a platinum record, ever. They never got top billing in mainstream shows. They got recognition from their peers in punk and rock, and their songs have been featured in dozens of movies but they never really made the kind of money a person would expect from a band that was so well vetted. They were always an A-list show with B-list recognition. I'll never understand it.

I know. It has embedding disabled. You'll have to click the link under it (or click anywhere inside of the vid besides the play sign).
