Yes, it's true.

The masterminds behind the 'Matrix' bring the beloved '60s anime cartoon to life on the big screen. Forget the bleak Neo-centric vision of the future; this is more Andy Warhol meets the Jetsons. Watch Speed as he battles corruption in the racing industry and his mysterious rival Racer X.

Um.... LOL?

Official site with high quality trailer. (http://speedracerthemovie.warnerbros.com/)

I'm surprised that no one has posted any clips from Robot Chicken yet...

Isn't it the Wachowski brother and sister?

Meh.

What happened to people coming up with original ideas for films? All these remakes are really getting old. I'd prefer my nostalgia stay... well, nostalgic.

I don't mind remakes. It's just that they're mostly crap.

Put it this way: remakes should be creative interpretations of old stories, not lazy rehashes of old stories.

But honestly, in which of those categories do most remakes belong?

DAYoung

The 'burn in Hell - BURN BURN BURN' category.

I predict a high budget box office flop. it will outpace low budget movies, will never cover it's own cost. I just don't see how this could draw a huge audience. it's just got way too much of the ghey in it.

C'mon, guys...

It's the fighting that really got the lulz.

They haven't made a decent movie since the first Matrix. And even that was crap next to Dark City.

Such a good movie, such a good goddamn movie.

Damn right.

And Melissa George added an extra allure to an already-compelling film.

I just re-watched dark city yesterday to remind myself how awesome it was.

You did the same thing the day before

I am ashamed. I have only listened to Dark City. (at work using listentoamovie.com)

Dark City, not Sin City bro. It is a good goddamned movie as Mav said, and better than the Matrix as a film (although when I saw the matrix I had absolutely no idea what it was about so I was pretty entertained)

As long as the fights are better than the Matrix...

Nah, yesterday I went down to Shell Beach and spent the day fishing with some guys from out of town.

I don't understand the comparisons to The Matrix. They're very different movies.

They're both dark, science-fiction films, which deal conspiratorially with the manipulation of human reality.

The Matrix borrowed more from the Invisibles comic than anything else.

I wouldn't say that. How could it do so without touching on the psychedelic/shamanic experience?
