The $20 icon is there for a reason - if you're looking to get a cheap, awesome player, this is your best bet.

Ok, so I bought this 7" portable DVD player from a little-known company called Avayon. The player itself is the Avayon DXP-7P, and there is a 10" version called the Avayon DXP-10P.

Reviews from DivX.com about the players:

7" player: http://www.divx.com/products/hw/detail.php?p=203
10" player: http://www.divx.com/products/hw/detail.php?p=204

The most notable thing - the formats it'll play:

Media Supported: DVD / DVD-R / DVD-RW / DVD+R / DVD+RW / CD-R / CD-RW / MP3 / AudioCD / PhotoCD (JPEG)

Files Supported: DivX, SVCD, VCD (1.0 & 2.0) / WMA

Oh yes! It'll play DATA DVDs. Xvid, Divx, AVI, it doesn't matter. I have a variety of files burned onto standard DVD-R discs in a variety of formats - DVD9 discs that were converted into DVD5; DivX, Xvid, AVI, etc.

I just got mine in the mail and I creamed my pants. The only downside is that you need your own AV cables if you want to hook it up to a TV.

Best place to get it is Amazon - just put in Avayon DXP-7P or Avayon DXP-10P in the search box.

If you've got about $120 to spend and need a portable DVD player that'll play ANYTHING, go for it.
