I think I'm getting one within a week or so.

Any reviews of the thing based on greater exposure than my test drive?

I can't really imagine there being a better value out there.

http://automobiles.honda.com/models/model_overview.asp?ModelName=Fit

It's gonna replace a 1996 bad boy similar to this:

http://i19.ebayimg.com/01/i/000/9d/6d/dc51_12.JPG

'cept it's got grinding front brakes, a leaking radiator, alignment I'm not sure can be fixed (hit a curb badly this winter), a seatbelt chewed off by my dog, two previous fat owners, and several more dings and rust spots.

Ah, yes. Excellent 300 question.

There are several issues to be considered....

It would be a good topic for another thread!

This is mainly about the Fit.

Yeah, the fit is a great car for the money. You really can't go wrong as long as you make sure to haggle with the dealership/owner.

I did get it.

So far, so good.

Who says I'm gigantic?

Standard or auto?

How's it feel when you're merging onto a highway with SUVs bearing down on you?

How's it feel at highway speed (once you get there)?

Kein Haar

It's actually really zippy. In fact, it's kind of a complaint of mine. I would make a trade for better mileage (for my purposes).

Now, it's not like it has the balls for towing, but those high rpms really rocket you through dumb-ass highway traffic. Go do a test drive and see. It's no Chevette.

The fit is for hippies and anime lovers. I would have purchased a VW rabbit instead. The japanese bombed pearl harbor and killed Americans. What have the Germans ever done? Buy German. For America.

Roughly 100,000 Americans died from Japanese aggression during WW II. Twice as many American died from Germany aggression during WW II, plus an additional 115,000 or so during WW I.

If I'm not mistaken, most of the American deaths in WW I & WW II were due to faulty electrical systems in German cars.

If hit by a semi, I think you choices would be dead or dead.

Besides the gas mileage is great, parking is awesome, and it handles well. I rarely decide on a vehicle based upon a fear of death. If that were the case I wouldn't ever ride a motorcycle or ATV. I'd probably also stop doing judo and take up pilates.

Hit a suburban with a semi and a smart car and I'll bet you will pick to be in the suburban

fucking duh. that's like saying "once you've walked around in alaska without pants, i'll bet you'll choose to wear pants."

doesn't matter, the smart car isn't worth it. when it breaks down, you have to buy replacement parts from mercedes. might as well buy another smart car.

You also have to tow your balls behind you in a trailer if you drive one of those things.

no, they take your balls at the dealership when they hand you the keys.

Nobody needs anything more economic than a Honda Civic, or Ford Focus if you prefer American.

I mean, what's the point? You are only getting a couple miles per gallon better, you are risking your life by driving a tiny piece of shit, and you look like a douche.

The only acceptable tiny car is a Mini, because those things are just pimp.

So first I'm told that driving a smartcar is gambling with a 50/50 shot at death. Next I'm told that it means that I require balls. Make up you damn minds. Russian roulette must be a real ladies game.

Some people have also been worked into such an eco-frenzy by hippie lies they ignore their sense of style and buy a little car because they feel like they are saving the world. This is the group I want to be hit by semis.

We agree on something! This is why I ordered the personalized plate MPG LOL for my Mustang.

please, please buy minis. They're assembled in Oxford, and with car sales going the way they are, I really worry about the effect on local people if that plant got closed.
It's the only source decent paying blue-collar jobs around here, and it's thousands and thousands of primary bread winners relying on it.

I'm guessing imported minis are cheaper in America at the moment, with the pound being down the way it is?

If you get doubts about the styling etc.. watch the original version of the Italian job again.

When you crash a car into a wall, you are crashing it into itself, as the wall exerts a force equal to the force of the car. As this is just a little smart car, it can't compare to a collision with a heavier vehicle. The wall is not a good / complete test of safety. Try the same thing with a semi coming from the opposite direction and you will have a much different result.

Hit a suburban with a semi and a smart car and I'll bet you will pick to be in the suburban

Most people do go around getting into head on collisions
