Anyone else see it? It had ONE scare througout the entire movie and a brutal ass ending. Thats it. IMO it could've been a lot better by taking the ghost out of most of the scenes. Just wasn't effective when you KNEW he'd be there. Should've let him creep a lot longer which would've made the payoff on the effective bits better.

What's the last good horror movie you've seen?

Video games are much scarier than any movie. The only time I get a scare in a movie is when there is that sudden "OMG IT'S RIGHT HERE!" scene, possibly accompanied by a shriek. Guess what? Video games can do that, too.

My one scare was realizing you paid full price. It's a remake (as you know) afterall.

I thought you'd be on top of that Villain.

Hills have eyes 2006 . A remake granted but good anyway .

Are you trying to tell me that a Hollywood remake of a Japanese horror film, starring someone known for her prettiness rather than acting ability, actually sucks?

Well, thank fuck for that, I'd never have guessed otherwise......

The Descent.

Its a tad less scary when I can open up with my uzi.

I know. Hated the originals too.

I thought you'd be on top of that Villain.

I voted for "The Departed".

No it wasn't.

By the same guy who made the suckier originals. That ain't the movies sin.

What Did You Expect?

The Descent.
There is hope for you yet, if you haven't seen Marshall's other film Dog Soldiers, I suggest you do so.

Erm, WHO?
Did Gellar not return for this film?

Last good horror movie I saw was the Audition. Had all the elements I like in a horror movie: atomsphere, a certain degree of believability, and no wasted scares.

The question is, in your humblest opinion, what makes a good horror movie?

F.E.A.R. is the scariest horror movie I've played lately.

Also awesome.

Did Gellar not return for this film?

She does, but she's not the star.

Spoilers:

Anyways, does anyone know WTF was up with the ghosts? There were two, two, right? I thougt their whole thing was that they were mimicking the actual events in their actions. If so, if the mother had her neck boken, when does she walk down the hall and view the victim? I dont understand that.

The Law of Sequels clearly states that any movie, that is a sequel, will suck. You'd do good to remember that particular law the next time you go to pay money to watch one.

Funniest part of this thread is the subject "Wow, Grudge 2 Sucked". "Wow" ... hahaha ... they're, like, all surprised and stuff.

As I said, I voted for the departed. I was only along for the girls really.

Counter-argument: a list of all the sequals that didn't suck

Yeah T2 was better then the first one.

Doesn't count, different genre.

The three Holy Grails of Film Studies are:
The sequel that surpassed the original
The remake that surpassed the original, and
The adaptation that was better than the source novel.

Does that apply only to horror movies?

Same with Blade Runner. Much better than Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep.

Blade II
The Killers starring Lee Marvin and John Cassavetes (the trick is to watch remakes made when movies were still good)
Fight Club

edit
it's sad because I actually tried with that answer

Agree with you on Fight Club. Conveyed its message more effectively than the movie, and the scenes in it were just more effective on screen than in print.

Sequel better than original - Godfather 2 (electric boogaloo)

Remake better than original - The Ten commandments with Charlton Heston - Cecil B remade his own earlier black and white version

Better than source material - American Psycho
