Personally, I think the whole franchise went in the crapper with the fall of the USSR and the instatement of Piss Brosnan as the crapest James Bond ever. However, this new movie is based on an original Fleming book and won't have Bond fighting ridiculously henpecked anarchist terrorists, crazed media moguls or sadistic Germans. (Sieg Heil!) Hopefully, he'll get back to fighting evil communist plots and Specter plans for world domination.

What say you? Will anyone go to see this?

I'll see it. Bond is sometimes gritty, sometimes camp, but always fun. I even enjoy the bad ones.

Bond is never bad. You know EXACTLY what you're gonna get when you see a James Bond movie. The only question is exactly how much shit gets blown up and how many women he fucks. Thats it.

Precisely.

And if it makes the Poms feel better about themselves after WWII, so much the better.

I think the new James Bond is hot. Always liked the actor. So that alone makes me want to see it. Also it too is based on the first novel so that makes it worth the while. Also I love Judi Dench as M, because I love her as an actress - I try to watch things that have her in it.

I'll go see it, but I can't fucking believe Judi Dench plays M considering it's supposed to be in the '50s...guess that's out the window.

I'm not exactly hopeful as I don't like Daniel Craig and find him even uglier than roger moore. :( Still, He can't be worse than George Lazenby, and even a bad Bond is more than worth watching. I'll probably rent it.

I liked Pierce Brosnan, he was my second favourite Bond. He wasnt as gauche as Moore, or as irritating as Lazenby. Timothy Dalton was cute and his portrayal was OK, but there just won't be a better bond than Sean Connery. That accent..sigh. I still would.

I don't think there was anyone around that was right for Bond really. I'd sooner they waited a few years than go ahead with whoever they could get.

I hope the new Bond has the two essential ingredients: An upperlip as stiff as Queen Victorias and bottomless supplies of smoooveness.

HOW DARE YOU! YOU FUCKER! YOU DISGUST ME!

Don't you know you can't start a sentence with 'and'? Is that some kind of sick Hebrew illness? Conjunctionitis?

Not to burst your bubble but I think Roger Moore killed the head honcho of SPECTER during the opening scene in View To A Kill.

I wonder if this Bond film will feature James tied naked to a chair while repeatedly hit in the balls with a cane, probably not. I suppose he won't be rescued by an evil Communist agent of SMERSH either.

Yes, I will go see this film.

Is that the one where he killed Blofeld while he was in some kind of mudbath? In that case, it wasn't Blofeld, but a decoy. Blofeld is, as far as I know, still alive, and since this is set during the 1960ies, he will most certainly be alive in Casino Royale.

Tied to a chair naked and hit in the balls? Unless Bond decides to go to Abu Ghraib, then I wouldn't bank on it.

Bond would be doing it for England...Lindy Englands.

I was thinking of when Moore got in the remote controlled helicopter, but was able to gain control of the chopper. Then he swooped down and snagged the handicapped villain and dumped the cripple down a smoke stack.

The whole homoerotic, bondage, sadism thing is how it turned out in the book, but that's really neither here nor there.

Is this Bond film supposed to be set in the 60's or in modern times? I'm finding it difficult to reconcile Judy Dench as M in both the 60's and the 2000's with a huge stretch in between filled with Bernard Lee as M. Or will they be explaining to us that there are multiple men who have filled the 007 role of Bond thru out the decades? In any turn of events I will still be there to watch it on the silver screen.

Weirdly, I was always hoping they would cast Adrian Paul as the next James bond. He has an uncanny similarity to young Sean Connery, if a bit to muscular.

He's actully a great actor... see 'Layer Cake' if you haven't. Will see... never miss a Bond...

And Bond is supposed to be rugged... he fits thebill better then Pierce... though I had no problem with him...

According to Wikipedia, this is what Fleming thought James Bond should look like:

This is the new Bond:

Who knows, he might be able to pull it off. I think he's a bit too fair-haired though.

Anyone who hates Bond is an Emo.

True, but there is only one bond- Sean Connery, all others are just imitators.

Moore bieng the best of the imitators and timothy dalton bieng the worst.

(what were they thinking having someone whose only claim to fame before bond was freaking flash gordon).

Thing I hated most about the Brosnen era. they let Bond get CAUGHT and he didn't escape in style! I mean talk about missing the point, dive off the bridge & have a hidden hand glider that would have worked but know the Fing caught him!
