This isn't really a review because I am not quite halfway through.

But it's a cool book, although it takes a bit to get into the prose style, which is written like it's 1811 in England.

The more I read it the more I like it. But only in small doses, I can't read it for more than an hour at a time.

Has anyone else read this?

I've read it. The prose style is a bit unusual and those goddamn footnotes drove me crazy. While the book is very long, I enjoyed it.

On a related note, i just read Black Powder War another fantasy book set during the Napoleonic Wars. Maybe i'll do a review later.

a very good book, it has fantasy eliments, and yet avoids the (+5wizzard/drud/monk with a dash of ranger) problem. the magic is almost incidental. and the battlefeild discriptions are brilliant.
