Not sure if this has been posted yet or not. I glanced around the website a bit to see if I could find it and couldn't see it.

Well I wasn't posting here a year ago, and that just now got posted on Movie-List a couple days ago, and they don't usually post stuff late.

Not to mention there are 2 videos. Maybe ones new. I dunno.

Shitez! The video freezes after 2 seconds and all i get is music. Same damn thing happens with the Andy Hug H/L. Anyone knows why?

Here is the actor showing some of his skills. He's pretty acrobatic.

Your codec sucks. Uninstall any codec packs you have (Nimo, Tsunami, etc.) and install the Defiler Pak.

That video of the actor was really cool

This is perhaps the 4th ong bak thread. IIRC I started one of the others.

I hope that it doesn't turn out to be like "Kickboxer" where they depict Shotokan as "authentic" Muay Thai.

Its more lik wushu as muay thai.

Please tell me your kidding. Aside from all the gymnastics stuff I was hopeing ong bak would be the first movie to show actual muay thai techniques.

Watch Shuma's link to see a fight from it.

It has some actual MT in it with lots of flying knees and elbows as well as some clinch work, but its all highly stylized. If you want to see serious MT, watch thai boxing. If you want to see the most spectacular martial arts movie since drunken master 2, watch Ong Bak. Its simply amazing. The scene where he throws a guy out the window and jumps out after him and hits him with a flying knee is great. Not only did he catch the guy before he it the ground, but it was before the guy was even really falling. The movie is a real classic.

From what I understand they are genuine MT techniques, just given a Hollywood flavor.

All the techniques he performs are 100% real, too -- meaning no wire-fu or any editing.

Not everything in there is muay thai and the flavor is hong kong, not hollywood. Just watch Shuma's clip.

Or just get the damn movie.

Now that I look at it again, its more muay thai as wushu than wushu as muay thai. Tony Jaa IS an actual thai boxer after all.

Yeah, I still really want to see it in it's entirety. I like Muay Thai and I like pretty things, so it should be the best movie EVAR!

It's available for sale at www.cinefilevideo.com. I don't think their set up for online ordering yet but if you call them in LA they can send it to you.

The art was tecnically a more Gong Fu type of MA out of Thailand called, according to my MT instructor, 'Muay Lau Lau'. Check out the training sequence in the beggining. It even has forms training and funny metaphorical names for moves. Just recently those guys released ANOTHER action movie called "Dangerous Heroes". The side kick from Ong Bak plays lead this time and the girl is there too but the fighter just gets a cameo. It's kind of a funny toungue in cheek shoot'em up but it is TOTALLY worth it just for the last 20 minutes. Some really cool MT fight scenes there. Still mainly meant for laughs though.
