The plot for the game "Knights of the Old Republic" was FAR superior to the prequel SW movies... Better characters, too.

Did anybody get the trilogy set on DVD? Can I get a review? Quality, sound, extras...

I'm still pissed it's the "enhanced" version and not the originals as shown in theatres.

How could you leave out the Fetts?

Ronin
23rd September 04, 02:31 PM
So you could include them :)

Fuckin' Ewoks

Ronin
23rd September 04, 02:41 PM
Just the Ewoks is enough, we don't need to know that fucking them is bad too.

SRK85
23rd September 04, 03:10 PM
Umm C-3PO sucks.

Good
Original films without any fucking computers.
Wookies

Bad
Ep1 lacked way too much story.
EP2 had way too much CGI
Little Anakin
The stupid ass gungans
And the re-doing of the star wars. Just keep it orginal.

Hey ronin you ARE going to see EPIII when it hits the theaters next year right?

The good:

tellling the whole story

The bad:

how the prequell story was don, IMO Lucas could'vr gone another way.

Regardless, I am a fan and from what I read on-line EPIII is supposed to be emotionally draining and dark. Reminiscent of The Empire Strikes Back, only darker.

The Good:
Death Stars
Imperial Walkers
Yada with sabre-jitsu

The Bad:
Hayden "my force is fickle" Christensen - seconded
Jar Jar stinks

The Ugly:
Happy ending celebrations at end of flicks, e.g. ep1, ep6

The main problem is the simplistic notion that a galactic Republic and Empire's fall is shortened to such a few simplistic events fitting in like 6 two hour movies.

???

Like trying to fit the rise and fall of the Roman empire into 12 hours. Just ain't going to happen.

Darth Maul's death was just fine. It was his disproportionate hype:screen time ratio that killed the character.

Bad & Ugly: Greedo shooting first.

They seem to be just showing key moments, not thw whole thing.

Good:

Natalie Portman
Darth Vader
The Fetts

Bad:

Boba Fett's death. He deserved better.

Ugly:

Dialogue between Portman & Christensen in Ep 2. It's like watching 2 trains on the same track playing a game of chicken.

The good:

A New Hope
The Empire Strikes Back

The bad:

ROTJ
Episode II

The dialogue in EP 2 was dowbright terrible. These new ones just lack taste and good story telling. Anyways, I suggest everyone buy the Indiana Jones DVDs. Indy is way better than StarWars in my opinion.

Not one of the Star Wars Episodes was so memorable that I could rattle off what I liked and disliked about it.

The problem is Lucas FORGOT how to make a movie.

Little Idea
24th September 04, 02:41 AM
Lucas is a horrible director.

He should stick to things he is good at, like writing and eating.

Good:
Vader/Anakin taking everything the Emperor has and chucking him into the hole

Bad:
Episode II, yoda's lightsaber fight

Ugly:
Acting in any movie Lucas directs

Geijhan
24th September 04, 02:59 AM
The good:
TIE-fighters
Kendo for swordfights in Ep. IV-VI (if not really realistic, still more so than the ballet of Ep I-II)
James Earl Jones (Darth Vaders voice, not his body)

The bad:
Nintendo-like sequences in Ep. II
Greedo shooting first...

The ugly:
People going apeshit over the Leni Riefenstahl-like ceremony at the end of Ep. IV. I'm not a Nazi-lover but you can't deny the propaganda machine WORKED.
Nobody here yet mentioning the blatant rip-off A new hope was of Kurosawas Hidden fortress. :D

"Nobody here yet mentioning the blatant rip-off A new hope was of Kurosawas Hidden fortress."

Or that the trench run at the end of EP1 was a rip off (or maybe "tribute") to the bombing run in the Dam Busters, even the dialogue is repeated word for word.

For the record, Lucas couldn't let someone direct the movies because he is not a member of the SGA or the director's guild. He was fined HEAVILY for not putting screen credits at the beginning of A New Hope and ESB...so he broke away and went independent. Speilberg was set to direct ROTJ, but they couldn't get around the unions.

Tarrantino does the same shit and people piss all over themselves slapping him on the back...Five Point Exploding Heart Technique....that's stolen from Fists of the White Lotus (a movie about Pai Mei.)

The Bad:
"I don't like sand..."

Yeah that line was gayer than Richard Simmons.

Rumours over here in Norway says the podrace in Ep1 was a complete ripoff from norwegian animated (with puppets actually. as in full figure slowly agonizing animation puppets, not your average puppetshow) film. That's probably not intentionally, but everything in that race except for the actual path of the race itself is almost completely identical.

But bullcrap aside. Only decent SW episode in retrospect is Empire.
