View Full Version : 7 Marines killed in Iraq

It was the deadliest attack on U.S. forces since May.

The car bomb was so strong it sent the engine flying through the air.

Record number of wounded

Meanwhile, a report says that the number of US soldiers injured in Iraq in August is the highest since the war began.

About 1,100 soldiers and marines are thought to have been wounded last month.

Intense fighting in the city of Najaf last month is partly to blame for the high toll, the Washington Post newspaper suggests.

The number of fatalities among US troops was 66, the highest since May, but considerably lower than the 135 combat deaths recorded in April.

There are no official figures available for the number of Iraqi insurgents and civilians killed or hurt.

Meanwhile your tax dollars pay for Iraqi schools and firehouses while we close them here.

Which schools and firehouses did they close here due to the war and where?

PeedeeShaolin
6th September 04, 01:57 PM
Look it up if you care about it.

If you dont care then why do you ask?

Alot of libraries have also been closed.

Here in NYC the firefighters were protesting in front of MSG for 2 months straight.

I ask because you made the claim, meaning you would know which (if you do), and I can get the information from you faster. But if you don't want to give me the information, I'll look it up myself.

So a firehouse was closed due to the war? If thats true, then thats really unfortunate. :(

PeedeeShaolin

I'll help you out only with NY though.

But don't get to thinking its just here, do some research and you'll find alot more:

Engine 204 in Cobble Hill;

Engine 209 in Bed-Stuy;

Engine 212 in Greenpoint;

Squad 252 in Bushwick;

Engine 278 in Sunset Park/Borough Park;

Engine 251 in Long Island City;

Engine 293 in Woodhaven;

Ladder 53 on City Island.

What state was it that got hit the worst on 9/11?

We get to close firehouses AND we get to lose Marines! One of the key benifits to the war on terror.

So 8 firehouses due to the war? That bites. I'm not blaming the President though. I still firmly believe Saddam was a threat that needed to be dealt with, being a terrorist who killed his own people using weapons of mass destruction and biological weapons. I guess sacrifices have to be made to make the world safer.

PeedeeShaolin

Where did he get those weapons from? Thats a REAL easy one to look up.

And I wasn't poking at you by telling you to look it up, I was trying to say you'd find ALOT of closings if you look for them. Its bad. Even some of the ones who arent closed dont have contracts.

Good thing we're in Iraq making the world safer from Osama Bin Laden huh?

Last I heard it was HIM who commanded the World Trade Center attacks, not some dirty old man living in a hole in a bankrupt country that never attacked America in any way shape or form.

Oh okay. Yeah I was just curious. I'm glad Saddam's behind bars now though. Soon, hopefully Osama as well.

From what I understand, the plan was "War on Terror" not just "Hunt for Osama". I believe Saddam's a terrorist. The United States can multitask but as we can see, there are advantages and disadvantages to that.

I hope so too.

Cant anyone here even give a token statement of sadness over the loss of these Marines lives! These individuals lost their lives fighting for you, whether you like it or not. At least show a little respect!

PeedeeShaolin

No sheeit Rigante why do you think I posted this? Every time we lose servicemen the ass backwards media does a piss poor job of reporting it because if people knew how many of our soldiers were getting FUBAR'd and killed for "freedom" they might not like it so much.

And now FrankenKerry says the troops will be home in about 4 years.......How many more dead will that be?

And do you think we can even MAKE Iraq safe for big business in that time span?

Unfortunately, more people in the United States die. In January, 35 people died in Detroit. Thats just one city in the United States. I don't find anything wrong with sacrificing your life for others that aren't Americans. They may be different looking people from a different country but they're still human beings.

RIP, Marines and thank you for your service. My thoughts are with them and their families.

I'll see all of you at the final rally point.

From the halls of Montezuma To the shores of Tripoli' ,

We fight our countrys battles In the air', on land, and sea.

First to fight for right and freedom , And to keep our honor clean,

We are proud to claim the title Of United States Marine.

Our flags unfurl'd to every breeze From dawn to setting sun';

We have fought in every clime and place Where we could take a gun.

In the snow of far-off northern lands And in sunny tropic scenes,

You will find us always on the job - The United States Marines.

Here's health to you and to our Corps Which we are proud to serve;

In many a strife we've fought for life And never lost our nerve.

If the Army and the Navy Ever look on Heaven's scenes,

They will find the streets are guarded By United States Marines.
